Fibre Winding Capabilities
AFE are now capable of winding fibre without any crossover, eliminating any macro bends. The efficient way, in which we wind fibre, allows for maximum use of the available space on the spools, allowing for longer lengths of fibre in smaller packages, whilst maintaining accuracy. In trials the fibre winder has managed an accuracy of 100±0.2 metres
As the fibre winder is semi-automated with a custom tension controller, repeatability can be achieved. As the mechanics and software are both designed in house, custom spool size and fibre lengths can be achieved to meet your needs, especially if your design requires a spool that is different to the industry standards.
The way in which the fibre winder has been designed, it is possible to remove the fibre from the spool.
Due to the high accuracy, the fibre winder can be used to make fibre coils for a number of equipment, such as, EDFA spools, fibre hydrophones, delay lines, OTDR launch pack and all fibre depolarisers.
